About the Work
Planning Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Android Developer to join our team. This role focuses on developing and maintaining high-quality applications for Android devices, ensuring a seamless user experience for our customers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Android development, with a deep understanding of JAVA and Kotlin, and a proven track record of building large-scale mobile applications with a significant user base.
Responsibilities
- Lead the maintenance and expansion of our flagship Android products
- Design and build new features from start to finish, refine existing ones, and keep things running smoothly
- Ensure the security of our customers’ data
- Turn feature ideas into solid technical plans and implement them with small, well-tested GitHub pull requests
- Mentor and collaborate with your designer and developer teammates
- Dive into code reviews to ensure we’re all learning and producing top-notch code
- Get your code ready for builds and releases on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore
- Continuously improve our tools for automated application build and release
- Stay updated with the latest Android features and figure out how they can make our apps even better
- Investigate and fix bugs reported by our awesome support team
- Use tools like Firebase Crashlytics and Android Studio to diagnose and resolve errors
- Join in on book and code clubs to keep growing and learning together

Step Two: If selected to move forward, an invitation to an online coding assessment to get a rough understanding of your developer prowess and skills
Step Three: Initial “blind screen” with our recruiter to get to know one another and discuss work and culture
Step Four: Pairing and Technical Interview over Zoom with a few members of the team (we’ll discuss your work experience, methodologies, and you can ask lingering questions you have about us)

Qualifications
- Proven track record of publishing and maintaining large-scale Android apps with a big user base
- Expert-level skills in JAVA and Kotlin
- Experience with Android SDK, Jetpack libraries, and other Android frameworks
- React Native experience is a nice bonus
- Strong grasp of mobile architecture, design patterns, and best practices

Requirements
- Past experience within the fintech sector, or understanding of financial regulations, compliance, and security best practices.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in financial technology contexts.
- Ability to manage, coordinate, and prioritize work with multiple team members for delivering software with quality in time.
- Strong communication skills and an ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, engineering, and other departments.
- Able to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be located in the Americas or Europe (between time zones UTC-5 and UTC+3).
Qualifications
- Solid track record of over 10 years demonstrating mastery of PHP, mainly in production backend applications.
- Solid experience in administration, modeling, optimization techniques in SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Demonstrated proficiency in working with third-party software integration using industry protocols like SOAP, REST, RPC, GraphQL, and WebSockets.
- Proven knowledge in processing queues such as Apache Kafka, or RabbitMQ, or standards like AMQP.
- Expertise in utilizing in-memory databases like Redis and Memcached.
- Understanding of Git and branching models for coordination with team members.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience working with release management and architecting within cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
- Familiarity with network security, traffic encryption, and authentication protocols.
- Enhanced skills in other programming languages like Golang and JAVA are highly valued.
- A comprehensive grasp of economics and finance, including swaps, escrows, scalping, staking, and lending.
Responsibilities
- Write production-ready, testable, and clear documented code, and handle edge cases.
- Understand team development approach, identify gaps, and recommend solutions.
- Maintain expertise in the team's domain areas, its services, interactions, and data flows.
- Utilize design patterns for scalable applications, anticipating future changes.
- Perform systematic debugging within the domain.
- Ensure epics and projects are broken down, prioritized, and understood by the team.
- Communicate clearly with other teams, fostering effective and targeted communication.
- Promote documentation and knowledge sharing within the team and with stakeholders.
